A fun and engaging dance class for our youngest movers and their caregivers. This class combines creative movement, dancing with props and storytelling to introduce these children to dance and help develop balance, gross motor skills. This class does not participate in our year end performance.

In Little Feet dancers will explore many ways to move their bodies. They learn basic dance steps and movement skills through storytelling, song & dance, and dancing with fun props such as scarves, ribbons, bean bags and hula hoops. This class performs one routine in our year end performance.

This is our ballet / tap combo class. Dancers continue to learn age appropriate dance steps and concepts, and incorporate these into creative dance activities and choreography. This class is 45 minutes of ballet and 15 minutes of tap. This class performs one routine in our year end performance.

This is a Ballet / Tap/ Jazz combo class. The dancers explore beginning Ballet, Tap and Jazz dancing. This is a fun, upbeat class that suits the attention span of this age. This class performs two routines in our year end performance.

Our Rising stars program offers a variety of dance combination classes for dancers to explore styles that interest them. We always encourage dancers to continue their Ballet classes but understand dancers have different interests.

Ballet classes are offered from a beginner level to advanced. Students are taught proper body placement, body alignment, barre and center floor work, along with across the floor combinations. Beginner classes introduce vocabulary, proper alignment, and classical ballet technique. Advanced classes include adagio and allegro work, and combinations using balance, strength, and style. In addition Pointe is offered. All students are urged to study ballet, as it is the foundation of all other dance styles and facilitates further success in these disciplines.

Hip Hop classes combine street dance with funk and jazz, similar to what you would see in televised dance performances or music videos. Students will learn the importance of isolations and dynamics to execute pop-and-lock and funk movements.
And… We are very proud to have such a wonderful boys Hip Hop program. We have several male Hip Hop teachers who are very active in the Boston dance community. They are wonderful role models for boys who wish to dance.

Contemporary dance is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical and classical ballet. Contemporary dancers strive to connect the mind and the body through fluid dance movements.
Contemporary dance stresses versatility and improvisation, unlike the strict, structured nature of ballet. Contemporary dancers focus on floorwork, using gravity to pull them down to the floor.

Modern dance is a takeoff from ballet and is another interpretive style of dance. Modern dance is strongly recommended for anyone seriously considering a dance career, as all college dance programs require modern dance.

Lyrical is a slower style of Jazz which combines elements of Ballet and Jazz based movements. This style of dance focuses on the emotion and story behind a particular piece of music. We use this style of dance to tell a story through our movements.

Our jazz dance classes are taught in the traditional style of Jazz dance. Dancers will learn stretches to increase flexibility and many different jazz steps, turns, and combinations incorporated into choreography. A fun class set to current, upbeat and age appropriate music. Beginner classes will also explore hip hop and lyric styles of jazz.

Dancers will explore the rhythms of tap, from the traditional time steps, paddle & rolls , and shim shams to the hard hitting rhythm tap sounds that have put tap back on the map recently.

A technique-focused class with basis in strengthening, improving control, optimizing flexibility and learning new skills. This class runs on a rotating schedule with alternating weeks focused on leaps, then the following week with a stronger focused on turns.
Class is dancer-focused and dancer-driven in that the teacher will take suggestions or requests for new skills to work on based on skills that are choreographed into routine for recital/competition/solos/etc. This class is for any dancer who wants to strengthen their technique to grow across a wide variety of styles.
Musical Theater focuses on jazz technique with an additional focus on performance quality. Alongside developing technically, dancers will expand their knowledge of the genre of Musical Theater. Each week students will learn about influential musicals or choreographers, with focus ranging from the classic work of Jerome Robbins and Bob Fosse to current choreographers like Susan Stroman and Sonya Tayeh. Students will learn to combine their dance skills with storytelling and performance development, and a greater understanding of the genre as a whole.
Our Dance Team “On Broadway Dancers” was created to give dancers an opportunity to learn more choreography and have more performing opportunities.
Our Dance Team is open to dancers in grades 3 and up and meets on Fridays (4:15 – 7:15) and Saturdays (3pm – 6pm). Dancers choose one day or the other to participate. Good attendance and level of commitment is required.
